Safe Deposit locks are a specialized lock used in vaults for individual valuables storage. They generally employ a "dual control" or two key system. One key is called the renters key, the customer keeps this key to access their box. The bank keeps another key, called the Guard Key. As the name implies, the vault guard often is the custodian of this key. In order to open the lock, the guard key is inserted by bank personnel and turned. The customer then uses their key to open the door. At this point the guard key can be removed and the box can be relocked by the cutomers key alone.
I service and repair all makes and models of safe deposit locks. A vast majority of locks in use today are the Sargent and Greenleaf 4440 (Ilco A-400), the Diebold 175's and Mosler 5700's. Common service requests are: lost renter key, lock malfuntioning, rekey (called matchwork) renters lock and lock repair or replacement.
